Make a well worn looking gun into a keeper for generations,Or add some personality to your favorite weapon.Dont worry about handling and putting back in safe for yrs because the oil from you hands wont rust the finish like standard bluing finishes. Resistent to saltwater, scrathes, chipping, no cleaners made specifically for firearms will damage it .

Cerakote and DuraCoat are specialized finishs applied to your firearms or other sporting equipment to protect against scrapes, scratches, bangs and bruises but also protects from the elements as well as stopping rust before it starts. So much better than blueing and looks are everything when it comes to your project!

Compared to all the other companies I found online providing this coating service Alternative coatings By far had the best prices (30 to as much as 50% less) for the same coating jobs and material used, along with excellent customer service and he didnt keep my gun for 6 months like another company I used in the past. Alternative Coatings has completed 8 projects for me since I happened across Tim, I wouldnt go anywhere else nor Would I suggest you go anywhere else if you want a great coating at outstanding value with excellent customer service with the markets highest quality product application. Im not close friends with Tim or a relative But a Customer for LIFE!

To whom it may Concern,
Alternative Coatings recently coated my STI with Duro coat. I have found Mr. Beelure to be conscientious and very detail oriented. This is a very rare quality in today’s’ society.
I am very pleased with the results of his work on my STI and would recommend him to anyone needing this work.

Hi Tim,
I want to thank you on the perfect job you did on my STI BLS pistol. The black coating completely coated the light and worn spots on the gun and the accent of the stainless steel look made the gun look lie a million bucks. I know that I will be using this gun in some of my details 24/7 and want it to look and act the best that it can.
Again thank you for doing such a great job!
Regards,
Tim H
Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes! A vintage 1st gen model 59 Born again with a whole new look. Tim you are the man! You would never know it's the same gun. You set the bar pretty high for yourself...........outstanding!

“Tim did an excellent job refinishing my Remington 700SPS, as well as a couple M1A magazines (to match one I’d already had done). He took the time to go over all the different options & show me previous examples of his work. His turnaround time was very quick, and the rifle & magazines turned out exactly as we discussed. I’d use his services again without hesitation.”

I had Tim recoat my Ar-10 in cerakote along with the scope etc, as well as a stock assy and nightforce scope. The color, texture matched identically to the finish on the scopes, making it look like a seamless factory finish only in the colors I wanted.
Excellent quality and customer service.

Tim, Thanks for the great job you did with my PSL. I trusted you when said you had a good color for my stock and it came out a lot better than I would have ever thought. I already loved my gun now you turned it into a piece of art in my opinion. Can't wait to get some more work done.
Thanks, John. Phoenix, AZ

I brought in a rusted used pistol for my son and couldnt believe it was the same gun when Tim sent photos to me. What huge improvement. Since that pistol I have had 6 other firearms recoated with Alternative Firearm Coatings Inc and strongly recommend the coatings and the service.
Tom A Salt lake Utah

OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!
Very glad I came across Tims service, couldnt believe I got my 2 pistols back 3 days earlier than I was told rather than 6 wks later like everyother experience I have had with other gunsmiths!
Brian M Denver Co

I bought a pistol off auction due to the coating/appearance it had on it. I contacted Alternative Coatings! to coat my other pistol, shotgun and rifle all to match in colors and couldnt be happier with the QUALITY! Thanks Again Tim outstanding workmanship!
Jay T Boulder Colo

Had my AR-15 reciever recoated after attempting to remove the spray on camo I tried to apply. To my surprise it turned out nothing like the other photos on Duracoats website. I sent the parts to Tim stripped and recoated and it turned out just like the photos. Its not as easy as it looks and wished I would have saved the $100.00 on the kit and 4 days of my time and had Tim complete the project!
John D Pueblo Colo

Enjoyed the interaction with Alternative Coatings. Picking and making a decision on the colors etc was made easy with all the photos etc on Alternatives web site.

Took my new rifle to Alaska for a week of hunting goats! Rained most of the time and when I returned to Az my rifle was badly rusted due to moisture in the case. I brought the rifle to Tim embarrassed of its condtion. I was surprised that the condition didnt seem to phase Tim as he stated " No problem" I can make it look new again, which colors would you like to use. Im thinking WOW this guy really nows his stuff is full of Bs :). Well a week later I can honestly say it was the first option. The rifle looked better than when I bought it unfired from Cabela's. Since then I have taken the same rifle to Alaska and same thing very wet weather. Upon arrival in phx I was expecting same thing (rusted) but it wasnt. Had small water spots but wiped right off easily (as if coated in Teflon). The rifle still looks like it did when I picked it up from being recoated in CERAKOTE!

Got lucky and my local coating guy – Tim @ Alternative Firearm Coatings (highly recommended – nice guy, fair prices, good work, fast turnaround) had Cerakote in the exact color as the coating on the rifle - enough to do my rings and magazine, everything matches up nicely now.

Unbelievable the rusted surface of my .22 handed down to me and going to my son is better than NEW! Thanks Great service and Quality exceptional.
Randy Phx az

I recently had Tim recoat my s&w 642 in black and my AR-15 in coyote tan. Tim was very helpful and spent a lot of time answering my questions and explaining my options to me. The turnaround time was very quick and the quality of work was excellent. His prices were about 40% less than other estimates I recieved for comparable work.

I look forward to having Tim perform future work for me. I recommend that anyone considering firearm refinishing work check out Alternative Coatings.

Tim did an unbelievable job coating my p220 with white duracoat and black ceracoat. I am very happy with his work, I have seen no signs of peeling or any type of damage it actually appears too get better with age. It also does very well in my kydex holster, there is still no wear on the slide. This will defiantly not be the last gun I drop off to get coated, and i highly recommend everyone to try this at least once you won't be disappointed.

I look at several company's before contacting Tim at acoating. I was little weary about sending my rifle to him but after several emails back and fourth he made me feel comfortable about doing it. I talk about what I wanted and he was very receptive on my ideas. He didn't push anything on me. Hell he sounded more charged up then I did. I probably emailed Tim 40 times before sending my rifle to him. He sent me an email when he got it and also during the whole process. He even emailed me a couple of times before he started on the final color to make sure I still wanted it like we had talk about. When he was done with it. He emailed me to let me know he was sending it back. I think I got it like the next day. I was surprised when I opened the box. I couldn't explain the quality that I got from Tim. It was better then I had pictured it and better then I would of ever done it. Very impressed and Very pleased. All I can say is thanks Tim for the great work and the product.

FAQ

How durable is DuraCoat? DuraCoat is permanent. With normal use, a firearm finished with DuraCoat will last several lifetimes. What is DuraCoat? DuraCoat is a two part chemical coating. Unlike other firearm finishes, DuraCoat was created specifically for firearms. Other firearm finishes are "spin-off's" from other industries.
Is DuraCoat Teflon based? No. Teflon is a lubricating coating which is great for internals, but will not wear as well as DuraCoat on the exterior surface of a firearm. DuraCoat's combination of elasticity and hardness creates a finish impervious to impact, scratching and the elements. Some users say DuraCoat displays some lubricating qualities, but this phenomenon was never intended when DuraCoat was created.
I hunt along saltwater. Will DuraCoat withstand the salty environment? Certainly. DuraCoat is well suited for salty environments. One of DuraCoat's attributes is its extreme ability to resist salt corrosion. A firearm coated with DuraCoat simply will not rust...EVER!
Will DuraCoat burn off my barrel? DuraCoat can withstand temperatures as high has 500-600 degrees F. With "normal" shooting, your barrel will never get close to being that hot. If you are fortunate enough to own a transferable machine gun, or if you like to "blaze" with your semi-auto, do not put DuraCoat on your barrel, as your barrel temperature will rise to over 1,000 degrees F. In those cases, use DuraHeat. Our DuraHeat coating can handle temperatures up to 1,800 degrees F.
How easy is DuraCoat removed? Not easy at all. The elastic nature of DuraCoat resists blasting. A qualified individual, with the proper blast media, can safely remove DuraCoat without damaging the surface of the firearm. Be careful. In most cases, we recommend lightly blasting the surface, being cautious not to remove any DuraCoat. Just "beat up" the DuraCoat giving it "tooth" so your new application of DuraCoat has something to adhere to.
How come other firearm finish manufacturers boast hardness, but make no mention of elasticity? In the case of firearm finishes, a common misconception is "harder is better". This is faulty "old school thinking". Hardness means brittle and brittle means chipping. DuraCoat, being elastic, will not chip. If your DuraCoat chips, it means you have a preparation problem. Most likely, the surface was not clean. Elasticity provides protection by "giving" when confronted with impact. Elasticity also helps prevent scratches and mars.
